BoxedClassic is a photographic archive of the boxes LEGO® sets came in during the 1980s and 1990s — photographed front, back, sides, top and bottom, and where the box opens: the fold-out flaps and the vacuum-formed inlay trays that almost nothing else on the internet documents.

The artwork on those boxes was commissioned, airbrushed and printed to be thrown away. The sets survived; the boxes mostly did not. This is a record of the ones that did.

What is here

Every entry is a specific physical box, photographed on white with even light and the camera square to each face. Nothing about a box's construction is typed in by hand: if the archive says a set has an inlay, it is because there is a photograph of that inlay.

The catalogue metadata — set number, year, theme, piece count — comes from Rebrickable's freely reusable data export. The photographs are all of specimens in one collection.

The shop

A small separate section sells surplus from that collection: used sets, loose parts and diecast model cars. Most of the archive is not for sale and never will be, and the two are deliberately kept apart — an archive entry only shows a price when a specific item is actually available.
