About
BoxedClassic began as a photographic archive of the boxes from our LEGO® collection — thousands of items, most of them from the golden era of the 1980s and 1990s. Besides LEGO we collect Formula 1 and other model cars, mainly in 1:43 but also in 1:18.
As the collection grew, so did the need to thin it out, which is what the Shop is: things from the collection you can buy. It is a private sale from one collection, not a dealership — these are pieces that stood in a cabinet here for years.
If you are after something specific, do write. We will happily point you somewhere sensible, and if we come across it ourselves we will say so — but we take no orders and source nothing to resell.
LEGO
We have collected LEGO for decades, and the collection covers most of what was released between 1980 and 1999. Like many collectors we have a weakness for the larger sets of that period, which came in flap-lid boxes with a vacuum-formed inlay and the highlight pieces on display. Putting many of those sets back together is what started the archive: we needed to know how the pieces sat in the inlay in the first place.
The back of the box is worth as much attention. The designers had their fun there, printing the alternative models that could be built from the set's own pieces. Those are in the archive too.
Model cars
The 1:43 collection runs to several hundred pieces; as Michael Schumacher fans we concentrate on 1991–2006. Of the 1:18 models we have a few dozen. We are at the stage many collectors know: space and a changing collection mean part of it has to go.
Unlike many collectors we never chased sealed sets, whose prices now reach dizzying heights. Which is why the set you have been after may still be affordable here.
The photographs are of the actual item
No catalogue or stock photography: what you see is what you get. Please look through the pictures before buying — they open full screen and zoom, so they show more than any description can. Where we know of a fault or a missing piece, we say so on the item itself.
Condition
We are not a shop: these are our own things, sold privately from our own collection. LEGO and the models are a hobby, and these days — with other things to do — a fairly peripheral one, so we cannot offer what a commercial seller offers. What that means for returns is in the Terms of sale. Please bear in mind that the things in this collection are up to forty years old, have passed through many hands, and carry the marks of it.

The grade always describes the model or the set itself, not its packaging. After forty years a box carries a history of its own — what state a particular one is in is there on the photographs.
